So you want to be a Makeup Artist?
So you want to be a Makeup Artist? Social media can be a great source to network
and promote your business. I have seen a lot of people promoting themselves and
their business as makeup artist. So
before we get into what license you need how to obtain your license let’s talk
about why. Why do you want to be a makeup artist? Do you like a face as a blank
canvas and cosmetics as your paint to create something beautiful? When watching
television do you look at the makeup and see what’s wrong or right with the
makeup? Do you watch movies just for the makeup and not the movie itself? If
you can answer yes to those questions then you have a good drive to becoming a
makeup artist.
I know a lot people
have watch YouTube and think I can do that I love putting on makeup. I have to warn you that most of the people
that you watch on YouTube are not Professional Makeup Artist. The people that
you are watching have not gone to school or pass the Cosmetologists State Board
Exam and do not have a license.
The first that you should do if you are serious
about becoming a makeup artist and want to be paid for your services is to do
your research. In the State of California,
New York, and Missouri you are require by law to have a cosmetologist or esthetician
license.
In the state of CA Business and Professions code

licensed by the board, or conduct or operate an establishment, or any other
place of business in which barbering, cosmetology, or electrolysis is practiced
unless licensed under this chapter. Persons licensed under this chapter shall limit
their practice and services rendered to the public to only those areas for
which they are licensed. Any violation of this section is subject to an
administrative fine and may be subject to a misdemeanor. Practice of barbering,
cosmetology, or electrolysis for compensation without license which carries a
$1,000 fine. If a person is not charging or receiving compensation from clients
for the application or products, s/he does not need to be licensed.
In the State
of New York Appearance Enhancement Rules and Regulations section 412. Civil penalties
The practice of nail specialty, waxing, natural hair styling, esthetics or
cosmetology, or the operation of an appearance enhancement business without a
license or while under suspension or revocation, or in violation of an order

to $500 for the first violation; $1,000 for a second such violation; and $2,500
for a third violation and any subsequent violation.

where in a license is required pursuant to this chapter, without having such

My daily routine that I use to keep my skin young, healthy, and pretty.
I get a lot compliments about how pretty my skin by skin they are referring to my face. from other makeup artists and different people on the streets. One time I was at a makeup counter and one of the makeup artist said oh my you have beautiful skin and of course I said in return thank you. The lady goes and get other workers to come and look at my skin and they all asked the same questions what do you use on your skin? So the first thing I would like to say is that I am a licensed makeup artist I have a CA license which stands for Cosmetologist All. Also, I do not drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes , or use drugs and I drink plenty of water.Yes drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes can cause damage to your skin. I do not use makeup everyday and when I do I make sure that I protect my face when applying and removing my makeup. Also, I make sure that my brushes are clean. Sanitation is very important when applying makeup that is why you when you want to have your makeup done make sure that you are going to a makeup artist that is license I can not stress that enough.
I am going to share with you what I use daily on my face. As well as how I protect my face when using cosmetics. The first then is that I do not use bar soap or body wash on my face because it will dry out your skin. I use neutrogena deep clean cream cleanser every morning. It is great in removing oil, dirt, and make up from your skin. I also use at as a makeup remover when removing my makeup.
So after I clean my face with neutrogena I apply ambi fade cream. It helps to fade away dark spots and even out your natural skin tone.
Before applying makeup I use MAC prep+prime. An ultra-fluid lotion formulated with special-effect silicone. Calms and soothes the skin, blots away excess oil, and evens out skin redness. Improves the lay down and application of foundation or powder.
After applying my makeup I spray on my face MAC fix+. An aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of Sugi. Adds radiance, finishes makeup. You can also spray this on your brush before applying your eye shadow and it will make your eye shadow more vibrant.
I always clean my makeup brushes before I apply any kind of makeup. I also clean my makeup brushes when I switch eye shadows colors on face. I really like the spay on brush cleaner it sanitize and cleanse the brushes. Plus it drys very fast without leaving the brushes wet.
So these are some of my favorite things that I like to use to make sure that my skin stay looking young, healthy, and pretty.

What style type are you?
What style type are you? Are you just one type are a combination of different types? If you are like me then you are all of the different style types. Depending on my mood, weather, or event I can either be one or the other and sometimes I can use mix and match pieces from each style type.

The meaning of color
Did you know that the color you wear have a meaning? Even when you are not saying anything the color that you wear speak volumes about how you are feeling what you want to project to others.
Black
Black is the color of
authority and power. It is popular in fashion because it makes people appear
thinner. It is also stylish and timeless. Black also implies submission.
Priests wear black to signify submission to God. Some fashion experts say a
woman wearing black implies submission to men. Black outfits can also be
overpowering, or make the wearer seem aloof or evil. Villains, such as Dracula, often wear black.
White
Brides wear white to symbolize innocence and purity. White
reflects light and is considered a summer color. White is popular in decorating
and in fashion because it is light, neutral, and goes with everything. However,
white shows dirt and is therefore more difficult to keep clean than other
colors. Doctors and nurses wear white to imply sterility.
Red
The most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster
heartbeat and breathing. It is also the color of love. Red clothing gets
noticed and makes the wearer appear heavier. Since it is an extreme color, red
clothing might not help people in negotiations or confrontations. Red cars are
popular targets for thieves. In decorating, red is usually used as an accent.
Decorators say that red furniture should be perfect since it will attract
attention.
The most romantic color, pink, is more tranquilizing. Sports
teams sometimes paint the locker rooms used by opposing teams bright pink so
their opponents will lose energy.
Blue
The color of the sky and the ocean, blue is one of the most
popular colors. It causes the opposite reaction as red. Peaceful, tranquil blue
causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms.
Blue can also be cold and depressing. Fashion consultants recommend wearing
blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty. People are more
productive in blue rooms. Studies show weightlifters are able to handle heavier
weights in blue gyms.
Green
Currently the most popular decorating color, green symbolizes
nature. It is the easiest color on the eye and can improve vision. It is a
calming, refreshing color. People waiting to appear on TV sit in "green
rooms" to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients.
Brides in the Middle Ages wore green to symbolize fertility. Dark green is
masculine, conservative, and implies wealth. However, seamstresses often refuse
to use green thread on the eve of a fashion show for fear it will bring bad
luck.
Yellow
Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. While it is
considered an optimistic color, people lose their tempers more often in yellow
rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to
take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Yellow enhances concentration,
hence its use for legal pads. It also speeds metabolism.
Purple
The color of royalty, purple connotes luxury, wealth, and
sophistication. It is also feminine and romantic. However, because it is rare
in nature, purple can appear artificial.
Brown
Solid, reliable brown is the color of earth and is abundant in
nature. Light brown implies genuineness while dark brown is similar to wood or
leather. Brown can also be sad and wistful. Men are more apt to say brown is
one of their favorite colors.
